Valentine’s Nail Ideas
Valentine’s nail art is a seasonal staple in the salon, with clients requesting designs that are on trend but still wearable. For nail techs, the priority is creating Valentine’s nail art that looks refined, lasts well and fits seamlessly into a professional gel service.
This guide is designed for professional nail technicians and focuses on creating salon-ready Valentine’s nail art using Fix & Flex gel, with techniques that support structure, durability and efficient appointment times.
Step-by-Step Valentine's Nails: Fix 'n' Flex Edition
You can use this technique for Valentine’s nail art or any other occasion nail designs.

STEP 1: Nail Prep and Base Structure
Start by sanitising and preparing the natural nail so it's clean and dust-free.
Remove cuticle overhang and lightly buff the nail surface to ensure adhesion.
Apply a thin layer of base coat or builder gel to create a smooth, structured foundation.
Apply 2 coats of a colour of Soft French and cure.
STEP 2: Creating 3D Nail Art Detail
Leave the tacky layer, as you need it for the flex it to adhere to, do not wipe.
Decant a small amount of flex it, out of the tube, remove using a metal spatula or orange wood stick.
STEP 3: Refine and Finish Your 3D Nail Art
Apply to the nail and shape into the upper lip using a silicone tool , brush, or metal tool and cure into place. Do not overwork or the gel will go sticky, and you will lose that lovely lip definition.
Repeat for the lower lip
STEP 4: Gel Colour Application
Once the 3D structure is complete, apply your chosen gel polish colours.
Use layering and blending techniques to add depth and dimension, especially for accent nails.
For intricate designs, consider using detail brushes or dotting tools for precision.

STEP 5: Adding 'XO' Detail
Using a thin nail art brush and black gel polish, carefully paint small ‘X’ and ‘O’ details over or around your 3D elements.
Work slowly to maintain clean lines and proportional spacing.
Cure under a UV/LED lamp to set the detail before applying top coat.

STEP 6: Sealing for Long-Term Wear
Topcoat the whole nail, including the lips. Flex it needs top coating as it has an inhibition layer, take care not to flood your 3D, you will lose all definition, gently brush on the topcoat and remove any excess, cure.
Finish with a wipe of cleanser if using a no-wipe top coat for a polished, professional finish.
