Yes, the Kolinsky brushes are made from 100% genuine Kolinsky hair.
What sizes do you offer, and which is best for my type of work?
The Kolinsky brushes are available in sizes 6, 8 and 10.
Size 6 - The perfect size for a good for cuticle bead and great for small natural nail overlays as well as short extensions.
Size 8 - An ideal size for beginners for bead pick up, size 8 brushes are good for natural nails and a slightly longer extension application.
Size 10 - Used when applying longer extreme nails, great for picking up larger beads or a one bead application on salon length nails.
What brush shapes are available (round, oval, flat), and what are they suited for?
Oval shape is key for precise bead and control. The oval tip allows you to be precision led during application.
How is the ferrule constructed — is it hand-crimped?
The ferrule is hand-crimped.
How well does the brush hold monomer and form a bead?
The brush holds really well and picks up a bead easily and precisely due to the point of tip and picks up a perfect pearl. With the oval shape tip it is easy to control the amount of monomer.
Does the brush have good “snap” and return to shape easily?
Yes, it doesn’t loose its shape, however it is important that the brush is looked after; wiping product off and monomer out the bristle will help ensure longetivity.
How durable is the brush with regular salon use?
This brush is very durable, it with stands regular salon use.
Does it shed hairs or splay over time?
It depends how well the brush is looked after however over time this may happen but we have not found that this has happen on our samples after multiple uses.
How should I clean and maintain it for best longevity?
The brush should be dipped into monomer at the end of use, patted gently on a soft cloth both sides, then place the lid on the brush carefully. Acrylic brushes should be stored upside down with the lid on, if not stored upside down you have the risk of product dripping to the handle of the brush. Bristles do not need to be 100% dry, it is best for them to be a little damp before the lid is placed on, but not wet.
Is it safe to use acetone or monomer on this brush, and for how long?
It is not safe to use acetone on Kolinsky brushes as it will kill the Kolinsky hair.
Monomer is very safe to use with the Kolinsky brush. Monomer is needed for acrylic applications and is the only liquid to use to clean the brush with.
Are there specific care instructions?
Acrylic brushes should be stored upside down with the lid on, if they are not stored upside down there is a risk of product dripping to the handle of the brush.
Is the handle resistant to chemicals like monomer and acetone?
Avoid getting chemical product on the handle.
Where is the Kolinsky hair sourced from?
The Kolinsky hair is sourced from North East cities in China.
What is the expected lifespan of the brush?
If well looked after the brushes have a long life expectancy.
